Obama to Increase NASA budget

We have a $1.3 trillion deficit and our Federal Government is unable to step up to the reality that we can not afford to do everything that we are attempting to do. Where does NASA sit on the priority list which currently includes Social Security, Medicare, etc? According to this article, Obama is proposing to increase the NASA budget and have them refocus on human spaceflight. The cynic in me sees this as a political calculation that goes something like this: "It worked for Kennedy."
